I'm writing this in mid July and summertime has definitely set in. We have been full to the top with guests enjoying Branson activities, the peace and quiet of Rockaway Beach, fishing from the dock and jumping in the pool to cool off. Even Shelley and I are frequent visitors to the pool.
We are looking forward to the outdoor movie down by the lake next weekend and there are some great events scheduled for August through October.
Make sure to find time in your summertime schedule to visit Cross Timbers Cabins or our sister resort, The Fisherman's Hide Out!

As of the writing of this post, the 2013 summer season is about 1/2 over. We have had a good news / bad news summer so far. The good news is that the summer has been a great one for gest reservations and we've been full most of the summer. The bad news is the same thing in that we've had to turn away many reservation requests just because we have been full so much of the time.
To help with this, we've converted 22 of our cabins at the "pool resort" back to nightly rentals (from the monthly rentals they have been for the past decade). This has proven to be a good decision since they have been booked almost non-stop since we made them available.
We are calling them "the fishing cabins" since they are being restored back to the style of the historic fishing cabins that Rockaway Beach was once famous for. They remind me of what this town was like back when sport fishing on the White River was popular.
Fishing is still one of the major attractions for Rockaway Beach and we are excited to see some of these cabins experience a revival of sorts back to their original purpose. Of course, you don't have to be a fisherman to enjoy them. We have them priced very economically so you can just use them as an inexpensive way to visit our area of the Ozarks!

Last year our family enjoyed the cabins for Christmas time. We had some in the Jacuzzi cabin (which wasn't yet finished) some in the big cabin and and some drove in for the day. We had a total of 23 there for Christmas dinner and activities. It was a gtreat time for all. Our Christmas tradition is pretty low key consisting of food, movies, games and practical jokes. We have been able to gather as a complete family, (nobody missing) for a number of years. This year will be different.
We decided to gather as a family for the holidays by booking a six day cruise to Progresso and Cozumel, Mexico. The entire family was once again able to gather for the occasion with nobody missing. It was an incredible time together and the consensus is that it may become our new annual holiday tradition. We'll see. In any case, our holiday gatherings for this year are behind us now and we will all do our own quiet, individual celebrations.
Since our family will not be occupying the cabins this year for Christmas, they are available to others. If you would like to try a "Cabin Christmas" this year, just call. There are still dates available.

We completed our first cabin just as the summer season was ending in 2011. Since then we've had a few guests. We would like to hear your stories or experiences while you were guests here.
